2014 NORTH DIVISION OUTDOOR CHALLENGE

Rules & Regulations
-There are 5 challenges for 2014 North Division Outdoor Challenge – Fly Your Patrol Flag, Tent Pitching, Innovative Kitchen Dresser, Creative Gateway and Mystery Challenge.
-Each unit is allowed to join all 5 challenges. However each unit is only allowed to send 1 team for each challenge.
-Each Guide is only allowed to join 1 of the 5 challenges.
-The use of chairs or any other equipment for elevation is NOT allowed.
Fly Your Patrol Flag
- 4 Guides to form a team.
-Each team is to bring their gadget poles, mallet, ropes, pegs and flag; only 2 mallets allowed for each team.
-Duration: 1hr
Judging criteria
i) Time taken / Team work: 20%
ii) Practical Height: 10%
iii) Use of knots & lashing: 20%
iv) Guylines (Taut / angle): 20%
v) Halyard (steadiness): 20%
vi) Presence of cleat: 10%
Tent Pitching
-7 Guides to form a team, of which 1 will be reserve.
-Please indicate in the table above if you require a canvas tent. Otherwise it will be taken as the unit is bringing a canvas tent. Only 14 tents are available for loaning. Loaning of tent is based on first come first serve basis.
-Only 2 mallets allowed for each team.
-Duration: 1hr
Judging criteria
i) Straight verticals: 10%
ii) Guylines (taut / angle): 15%
iii) Pegs (Size & angle): 20%
iv) Neatness of pegs: 10%
v) Position of mallets: 5%
vi) Direction of runners: 10%
vii) Airing of tent: 10%
viii) Time taken / Teamwork: 20%
Innovative Kitchen Dresser
-4 Guides to form a team.
-Each team is to bring their gadget poles, twines, mallets and any other necessary materials; only 2 mallets allowed for each team. No materials will be provided by the Division.
-Duration: 1.5hrs
Judging criteria
i) Time taken / Teamwork: 20%
ii) Practicality of size & height: 20%
iii) Correct use of knots & lashing: 25%
iv) Stability: 15%
v) Originality / Creativity: 20%
Creative Patrol Gateway
-5 Guides to form a team.
-Each team is to bring their gadget poles, mallets and another other materials to enhance your gateway; only 2 mallets allowed for each team.
-Guides are encouraged to use recycled materials as part of the design.
-Duration: 1.5hrs
Judging Criteria
i) Time taken / teamwork: 20%
ii) Practicality of size & height: 20%
iii) Correct use of knots & lashing: 25%
iv) Stability: 15%
v) Originality / Creativity / Use of recycled materials: 20%
Mystery Challenge
-4 Guides to form a team.
-Each team is to bring writing materials.
-Duration: 1.5hrs
